Prof. Dr. Lutfullah AKSUNGUR

Lutfullah Aksungur 1925 yılında Yozgat'ta doğmuştur. İlk ve orta öğrenimini bu ilde tamamlamıştır. Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinden 1950 yılında mezun olmuştur. Kore'de 1953-54 yıllarında Birleşmiş Milletler Birliğinde görev yapmıştır. Dermatoloji ihtisasını 1954-57 yılları arasında Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisinde tamamladıktan sonra, 1957-60 yılları arasında ABD'de Wisconsin Üniversitesinde öğrenimine devam etmiştir. Yurda döndükten sonra 1960-66 yılları arasında Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde görev yapmış, 1963 yılında doçentlik unvanını almıştır. Daha sonra 1966-70 yılları arasında Atatürk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dermatoloji Anabilim Dalında çalışmış ve 1968 yılında profesörlüğe yükselmiştir. ABD'de Boston Üniversitesinde 1969 yılında dermatopatoloji öğrenimi görmüştür. 1971-74 yılları arasında Çukurova Tıp Fakültesinde Kurucu Dekan olarak çalışmıştır. Çukurova Üniversitesinin YÖK Temsilciliği, Üniversiteler Arası Kurul Üyeliği ve Kredi Yurtlar Kurumu Yönetim Kurulu Üyeliği de yapan Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Aksungur, 1977-80 yılları arasında Çukurova Üniversitesi Rektörlüğü görevini üstlenmiştir. Türk Dermatoloji Derneği Başkanlığını 1974-76 ve Türk Ulusal Dermatoloji Derneği Başkanlığını 1976-78 yılları arasında yürütmüştür. Mersin'de 1976 yılında düzenlenen VI. Ulusal Dermatoloji Kongresinin Başkanlığını yapmıştır. Dermatoloji alanında otuzun üstünde bilimsel çalışması yayınlanmıştır. Türk Dermatolojisine birçok uzman hekim kazandırmıştır. Gerek Atatürk Üniversitesi gerekse Çukurova Üniversitesinde çalışırken, dermatoloji bünyesinde dermatopatoloji laboratuvarları kurmuştur. Evli ve üç çocuk babası olan Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Aksungur, 23 Mayıs 1986 tarihinde vefat edene kadar Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dermatoloji Anabilim Dalı Başkanlığını yürütmüştür.

Lutfullah Aksungur was born in Yozgat in 1925. He completed his primary and secondary education in this town. He graduated from the Ankara University Medical School in 1950. Between 1953-54, he served in Korea in the United Nations Forces. After completing his specialty in dermatology at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 1954-57, he continued his education in the United States at the University of Wisconsin between 1957-60. After returning to Turkey, he was employed at the Ankara University Medical School between 1960-66 and in 1963, he became an associate professor. Later, between 1966-70, he was the chairman of the department of Dermatology of the Atatürk University Medical School and in 1968 he became a professor. In 1969, he studied dermatopathology in the United States at the Boston University. Between 1971-74, he worked as the founding dean of the Çukurova Medical School. Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Aksungur who served as Rector of Çukurova University between 1977-80, was the representative of the Çukurova University in the Higher Educational Council, a member of the Board of Universities, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Student Grant and Housing Organization. He headed the Turkish Dermatology Society between 1974-76 and the Turkish National Dermatology Society between 1976-78. He was director of the 6th National Dermatology Congress held in Mersin in 1976. He had more than 30 papers in the field of Dermatology. He enriched the field of Dermatology with many specialists that he had trained. He set up dermatopathology laboratories in the Dermatology Departments of both the Atatürk University and the Çukurova University. Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Aksungur, who was married with three children, was chairman of the Dermatology Department of the Çukurova University Medical School until his death on the 23rd of May, 1986.
