The reanimation unit was designed as a
25 - bed unit in Intensive Care Department. Three staff (consultant) anesthesiologists
with three training anesthesiology residents organized the unit activities.Patients'
modules include one bed-side cardiac monitor, one ventilator and other treatment apparatus
such as infusion pumps, aspirator, etc,. The key services that we work together
pharmacy, radiology and laboratory. The areas of responsibility of the reanimation unit include: patient care, unit administration, education, research. In patient care practice; primary patient groups that are admitted to reanimation unit; are involve respiratory distress and mechanical ventilation requirement. This critical care condition includes the patients with trauma, intoxication, serious infection and sepsis, ARDS, shock, COPD, neuromuscular disorders, cerebrovascular pathologies and postoperative complications. In the unit the therapic plan and care are organized by the staff anesthesiologist of the unit and are achieved by the residents. The basic unit administration to care patients are mechanical ventilator support, invasive cardiac monitorization, hemofiltration and percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy procedures. The service also is responsible for the education of the physicians of various levels, nurses. Multiple important and urgent subjects enhance the education program such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mechanic ventilation , acute respiratory failure, nosocomial infections, mechanical ventilation associated pneumonia, nutrition, smoke inhalation pulmonary mechanics and gas exchange, oxygen toxicity etc. The basic topics of the research program are ARDS and alternative approach for mechanic ventilation and drug therapy, hemodynamic variations in sepsis and MODS, artificial airway procedures, nutritional alternatives in critical care and sedation/analgesia in critical care patients and cost effects in critical care therapies.
